Medical Wigs
There are a number of medical conditions and circumstances that can lead to partial or even complete hair loss. One of the leading causes of hair loss I have dealt with since starting my business is Alopecia. There are several different forms, including alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis, which can cause total hair loss, and frontal fibrosing alopecia, which causes patchy hair loss.
In some circumstances, clients are able to preempt medical hair loss, for example if they are due to begin chemotherapy treatment. Some clients have contacted me in advance so we can best match their existing hair style, colour, and texture. This can help make the transition smoother when they begin to experience hair loss. We often hope that hair loss will be temporary, but nonetheless, wigs can be a good option while your own hair regenerates or grows to a styleable length.
At Wigs Work, I welcome women, adolescents, and children who are considering a wig as an answer to medical hair loss. Many clients have reached out to me for guidance in coming to terms with recent or chronic loss of hair. I am very understanding of the potential psychological implications of medical hair loss, and am committed to meeting your needs every step of the way.
